Özet (EN)
In this study, 81 samples of blood from Holstein cattle breed in Afyon Kocatepe University, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Medical Biology and Genetics were studied. In the study, it was determined that the Pit-1 gene (Pituitaryspecific transcription factor), which is responsible for the expression of the growth hormone gene in mammalian organisms (Renaville et al. 1997), is located on the 1st chromosome of cattle and its polymorphic variants can be detected using the HinfI enzyme (Moddy et al., 1995). Mutation was tried to be detected. In the study, mutations in the Pit-1 gene, which is known to have a role in growth and development in mammals, as well as thought to be associated with milk production, were tried to be determined. In association studies on cattle, it has been reported that there are many marker genes associated with milk yield (Jiang et al., 2010). Since this gene is seen as a MAS candidate gene associated with milk production in cattle, a longer and more comprehensive study is needed to detect mutations. When compared with the studies on this gene on populations grown in different races and different geographical regions, it was seen that generally similar results were revealed.
