Abstract (EN)
Şer'iyye Registry, which have a special place in terms of Turkish history and civilization, contains rich information about the judicial, administrative, military and religious institutions of the Ottoman Empire and the social life of the Ottoman period. It is one of the most important sources that should be used especially in the studies of urban and regional history. In this context, we have obtained important information about the socio-economic, administrative, military and physical conditions of Karahisâr-ı Sâhib city from Afyonkarahisar Şer'iyye Registry dated 1741-1743 (H. 1154-1156) numbered 542 that we studied. It is also important due to involving records of the administrative structure of the Ottoman Empire in the provinces and its political relations with other states. 257 documents in Afyonkarahisar Şer'iyye Registry, which constitute the main source of the thesis, have been transcribed and translated into modern Turkish, and summarized and evaulated in physical, administrative, military, social and economic fields within a certain plan. Accordingly, the thesis consists of three main chapters except the introduction part. The information obtained from the records in the registry has been enriched by making use of copyright and research works during the evaluation. Records in the registry may concern more than one authority or more than one subject in accordance with the diplomatic qualification of the period. Our preference for classification has taken shape according to a subject focused in a record. In addition, the expressions in the records of edict, title-deed, commanded etc. have been stated in the summary section. With this study, a thesis that will shed light on the social, political and economic situation of Afyonkarahisar in particular and the Ottoman Empire in general between 1741-1743 has been tried to be constitued. Keywords: Afyonkarahisar, Şer'iyye Registry, Karahisâr-ı Sâhib.
