This thesis is performed to determine the indoor radon concentration in some houses in the provincial center of Afyonkarahisar and the annual effective dose equivalent that people expose, and to examine the relation between the radon activity concentration variations according to regions, and the effects of meteorological parameters on density of radon activity. In the study, provincial center has been divided into 4 regions by considering the rock types and tectonic structure and radon concentration has been determined by a passive radon measurement method by selecting 50 houses homogenously according to the housing densities in the determined regions. The measurements of radon activity concentrations have been performed for three months periods during one year between June 2013 and May 2014. The measurement results were acquired between 5 Bq/m^3 and 2494 Bq/m^3 values, annual average radon activity density was calculated as 168,6 Bq/m^3 and annual average effective dose equivalent as 4,3 mSv/y. On the other side, when the results are taken into account as seasonally, it has been observed that the period with highest radon concentration is winter. Besides, radon concentration values were calculated for 4 geologic regions and for 1st Region 125 Bq/m^3, for 2nd Region 188,9 Bq/m^3, for 3rd Region 188,9 Bq/m^3, and for 4th Region 136,4 Bq/m^3 was found. Finally, the radon concentration values recorded during the year which were acquired during the measurement periods and the meteorologic values (average pressure, average rainfall, average relative humidity, average temperature) were compared and the relation between the changes in radon concentrations were examined. 2014, xiii + 83 pages Keywords: Indoor radon concentration, CR-39, Geological structure, Effective dose equivalent, Meteorological parameters
