Abstract (EN)
Aim: This retrospective study aimed to evaluate the prosthetic and biological complications, as well as the satisfaction levels, of individuals using maxillary and mandibular implant-supported complete dentures. Materials and Methods: The study included 13 volunteer patients, aged between 52 and 78 years, who had received double-arch implant-supported complete dentures and whose follow-up periods ranged from a minimum of 12 months to a maximum of 76 months after prosthesis delivery. All participants were informed in detail about the study protocol and provided written informed consent. Demographic data (age, gender, education level), OHIP-14 and its subscale scores, prosthetic and biological complications, and the relationships among these parameters were evaluated. Results: The most frequently observed prosthetic complications were acrylic tooth wear (84.6%), denture fracture (30.8%), and deformation of retentive components (23.1%). The most common biological complication was peri-implant mucositis (61.5%). No implant or screw fractures were detected in any case. Based on the evaluation of the prostheses, 77% of the cases were classified as surviving and 23.1% as failed. The overall OHIP-14 score was found to be low and reliable. Additionally, a statistically significant, moderate, and negative correlation was found between age and the psychological discomfort subscale of OHIP-14. Conclusion: Implant-supported overdentures were found to be a reliable treatment option in terms of both clinical success and patient satisfaction. However, factors such as peri-implant inflammation, complications, education level, and oral hygiene habits were shown to influence post-treatment quality of life.
