Özet (EN)

`Op.29 Symphony no.1? of Ahmed Adnan Saygun?s (1907-1991) work of hissecond product period where both the modal approach and the horizontal linewas melted in the same crucible, was composed on the order of FranzLitschauer for woodwind instruments, horn and strings. (Emre Aracı, AhmedAdnan Saygun-Doğu-Batı Arası Müzik Köprüsü) This work in which bothmodal and tonal series was used, was pointed with the musical session it caughtbetween the cultural climates of the west and the east.Form is one of the most important elements which shows the organic orderand strength and provides its structural integrity of a work. Especially formstudy at classical approach has designating importance. Ahmed Adnan Saygunwho was influenced from the neo-classism during the years he spent in France, evaluated the musics, mods and tonal series in a traditional form understandingand with these materials he created a total structure. The first movement of thework is in the form of `Sonat Allegro?, the second movement `Passacaglia?, thethird movement `Menuet?, and the fourth movement `Rondo?.In the `Symphony no.1? of Ahmed Adnan Saygun, it is observed that a freeharmonic understanding in which sounds belonging to various seriesoverlapping freely, dominates. Also, the intensive use of the counterpointalwriting technique as a main technique in the work?s process is attractingattention. The counterpointal structure in the second part where a new melodyline is added to the texture everytime the theme comes, can be an example tothis. With the characteristics summarized above, `Symphony no.1? of AhmedAdnan Saygun like its composer?s motherland, Anatolia seems to be a mosaic. However; `Symhony no.1? interprets the world of the ideas of its motherland, that has the mission of being a bridge between the cultures, within a conceptualframe. With its characteristic texture approach, strong orchestration, energeticrhythms, horizontal line virtuosity, original harmonic inventionalism andformal strength this work leads from locality to nationality and from nationalityto universality.
