AḤmad al-Rifāʿī and takhrīj and taḥlīl of ḥadīths in his work named “Ḥālat al-ahl al-ḥaqīqah maʿallāh

The Qur’an is the primary and most important source of Islamic culture and civilization. The second source, the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), has been transmitted to the present day through hadith narrations. With the emergence of Islam, the term hadith acquired a specific meaning and came to refer to the sayings, actions, and approvals of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Hadiths constitute one of the main sources of all Islamic sciences. Sufism is among these sciences, and hadith narrations have been widely used in its literature. In particular, narrations related to asceticism, morality, spiritual refinement, encouragement, and warning have been frequently cited by Sufis. Determining the original sources of these narrations in the primary hadith collections is of great importance. Therefore, this study aims to identify the sources of and analyze the narrations contained in Aḥmad alRifāʿī’s work entitled Ḥālatu Ahl al-Ḥaqīqah Maʿa Allāh. The study consists of an introduction, two chapters, and a conclusion. The introduction discusses the subject, significance, purpose, methodology, scope, and sources of the research. The first chapter examines the concept of takhrīj and the Arbaʿūn tradition, and presents the life of Aḥmad al-Rifāʿī from various perspectives. It also introduces in detail his work Ḥālatu Ahl al-Ḥaqīqah Maʿa Allāh. The second chapter focuses on the source verification and evaluation of the hadiths contained in this work. In the conclusion, Aḥmad al-Rifāʿī’s understanding of hadith is assessed, and the narrations in the work are classified according to their sources and evaluated from different perspectives.
