Abstract (EN)

The life, works and literary personality of Egyptian writer Ahmed Khalid Tawfîk (1962-2018), who wrote the first work in the genre of horror which has not been written independently in Arabic literature, has been examined in this study. Studies on Ahmed Khalid are limited in our country. The aim of the study is to introduce this author, who is important in Arabic literature but is not well known in our country, and to fill the gap in the field. The literary and cultural life of Egypt, novel as a linguistic fiction, development of novel in Arabic and Egyptian literature and gothic (horror) literature were examined with the main lines in the introduction part of the study. In the first part; Ahmed Khalid Tawfîk's life and works were examined, and in the second part; the author's novelism, briefly the technical and thematic analysis of his work called Utopia in order to understand better his novelism; his literary personality, and especially his storytelling and poetry were examined in detail. In the study, survivors family members of the author were reached in order to obtain accurate information about the author. In addition to this, thesis, articles and studies on the internet about the author and his works have been used. The data compiled from these sources have been tried to be presented in an order. Ahmed Khalid Tawfik was born in Tanta, Egypt, in 1962. Ahmed Khalid who is physician, writer and translator was given the nicknames 'Arrâb Edîbi'r-Ru'b ( عَرّاب أَديب الرُّعْب) (Father of Horror Literature) briefly 'Arrâb ( َّ عَراب ) and al-Abu'r-Rûhi ( ُ ا َْلَْب ُّ الْرُوحي) (Spiritual Father) by his readers. The majority of the works of Ahmed Khalid, who wrote an average of twenty-two books a year and wrote more than five hundred works in his fifty-five-year life, are in the genre of horror. The author, who is a pioneer in the genre of horror in Arabic literature, has written works in genres such as fantasy and science fiction, as well as in this genre.
