Abstract (EN)

This research focuses on Kütahya ceramics, which has been proven to have an important development in Turkish art from the late 14th century to present, through unique works, examples, and techniques. Additionally, it highlights the importance of keeping the names, works, and contributions of valuable artists who have made significant contributions to the art in their time and have brought the art to important places in our country from being forgotten, for the future of art. This research aims to combine traditional and modern art in one body by synthesizing classical ceramic art by Ahmet Fuat Gürel with the sagar firing technique, which is commonly used by most artists today, and a different perspective. The thesis consists of four sections. In the first section, the definition of ceramic art is made and then alternative firing techniques are discussed and detailed information is given about the historical process, stages of production and technical knowledge of the sagar firing technique. In the second section, a general overview of the historical process of ceramics is given, with a focus on classical Kütahya ceramics. In the third section, Ahmet Fuat Gürel's life, educational background, working principle, artistic life and works are described. In the fourth section, the application section, Ahmet Fuat Gürel's classical Kütahya ceramics' unique designs, motifs are processed into original designed forms with sagar and glazed for a third firing and implemented by combining traditional and modern techniques.
