In this study, which aims to show that Ahmet Hamdi Tanpinar has the identity of a poet, novelist, storyteller, city writer, essayist, translator, screenwriter, academic and literary historian, as well as a critic, all his intellectual works are discussed. Especially by examining the history of literature and his articles, it has been questioned who and how Tanpinar criticizes. His diaries, letters, essays and lectures were also included in the research. As a result, what Tanpinar's understanding of criticism is, what methods this criticism is based on, what his domestic and foreign sources are, their originality or subjectivity in criticism have been studied. The place of this criticism approach in the history of Turkish literary criticism was determined and its contribution to Tanpinar and the criticism literature was tried to be revealed.
