Constructing the log structure and researching the advanced manufacturing method

Wood which is obtained easily and is a natural material has been the basic construction mateial for the buildings which people had built for sheltering in the high density forests regions since ancient times. In different regions of the world it has been founded examples or remains of the log structure that are built by putting the trunks (logs) together and are obtained by passing the overlapping edges in a simple way. This construction system that is one of the oldest system can ben applied in two different ways including traditional (hand crafted) and advanced (machined / millled) methods today.In the advanced method which is using prefabrication (pre-production) technology, the building materials which are produced in the factory in a controlled manner, are brought in worksite and mounted. The advanced of machined, milled production method is discussed in this thesis. After having mentioned the general specifications of the log system, in order to create a guide for the employees who are working on this issue, the components of the log system which was built by machined method and the different producing methods of the components have been described; after that, the processing steps of a log building which is built by the machined / milled method have been examined in details.
