The views of the teachers and mothers regarding with cultural diversity in family education programs

The purpose of this study is to determine how the teachers and participants who take place in family education process, perceive cultural diversity and how the family education program affect the ideas of them related to cultural diversity. Therefore, it has been aimed to determine the ideas and attitudes of the teachers and mothers towards the subject and to evaluate them and improve some advices.This research has taken place at Public Education Center in Samsun Centre which is ranking first and 7 different districts of Samsun (Yakakent, Alaçam, Bafra, Ondokuzmayıs, Çarşamba, Terme and Havza). The study group consists of 13 teachers who perform Family Education Programs in city centre and the districts, and 25 voluntary mothers who wants to take place in the education process actively in this program, and totally 38 people.The data for the research has been gained by a ?personal information form" that is developed separately for the educators and the participants, and by using semi-structured "Teachers and Participants Meeting Form" with focus group meeting. The interviews have been recorded and later the recorded data has been analyzed and reported. The written data has been presented by interpreting them systematically within research aims. While interpreting the data, the teachers' and participants' expressions have been frequently given.According to the findings of the research, the teachers and mothers are seen important people in the duration and protection of culture. In transferring the educators and parents? cultural features (education, view, behaviour, information, custom, etc.) in a true way, it has seen that Family Education Programmes have a great contribution especially to the individuals first and the behaviours towards their students. Especially it has been observed that Family Education Program has born important differences in the views of the teachers and mothers, it has changed the approaches of them towards the different views and it gives them a richness in that context. It has been concluded that the Family Education Program is seen important by the study group and this program should be supported. Moreover, it hasn?t been come upon a study about the Family Education Programs that are applied by revising it in Public Education Centres, therefore; it is thought that this study will contribute to the field.Key Words: Family, Culture, Cultural Diversity, Family Education Program
