Abstract (EN)
Evil can be defined as a phenomenon that embodies chaos by opposing order and simultaneously exerts a destructive effect on all beings. One of the earliest philosophers to discuss the phenomenon of evil was Epicurus, who articulated his approach to evil by placing God at its core. Al-Ghazali, one of the leading Islamic philosophers, states that that evil can be disguised by goodness. In contrast, Ibn Maimonides associates the origin of evil with absence and addresses it through concepts such as death and disease. In this context, the murder of Abel by his brother Cain, the children of Prophet Adam and Eve, driven by emotions such as jealousy, spite, and hatred, is viewed as a contributing factor to evil. Furthermore, the phenomenon of evil has been explored within various disciplines including religion, literature, philosophy, sociology, and psychology. In this context, the thesis aims to problematize the phenomenon of evil and its manifestation within the family through the example of Tosya and fieldwork. The study employed a phenomenological approach within an interpretative design. Qualitative research methods were utilized within the framework of phenomenology. The research sample comprised 15 participants aged 30 and above residing in the Tosya district. Thus, the study examined the emergence of the phenomenon of evil throughout history in light of various developments and theories. According to the findings, evil emanates from patriarchal structures within social and moral values. Moreover, behaviors such as irresponsibility and betrayal have surfaced prominently within familial manifestations of evil. Keywords: Evil, Family, Intrafamilial relations
