Abstract (EN)

THE INFLUENCE OF CUTTING TOOL COATING AND CUTTING VALUEON SURFACE ROUGHNESS AND TOOL WEAR IN MACHINING OFAISI 316 AUSTENITIC STANINLESS STEELEmre ALTINKAYAGAZ UNIVERSITYINSTITUTE OF SCIENCENovember 2006ABSTRACTIn this study, three different coated and formed cutting tool insert used in themethod of AISI 316 austenitic stainless steel without using the cooling liquid. Inthe process of machining, three different cutting speed (180, 225, 270 m/min)and three different feed rate (0,05, 0,1, 0,15 mm/rev) had applied to each coatedtool by keeping the depth of cut constant. Consequently, it was observed thatone of cutting tools that coated with TiAIN material, gave better wear andsurface roughness results. Cutting tools those were coated with TiN/TiCN/TiNand TiN/TiCN/Al2O3 had used in the process afterwards. In generally, cuttingtool wears had increased by increase in cutting speed, decreased by increase infeed rate. In addition, surface roughness values had decreased by increase incutting speed and tend to increase bymeans of increase in feed rate.Science Kode : 708.3.028Key Words : Cutting tool, TiAlN, TiN, Al2O3, stainles steel, tool wear,AISI 316, surface roughness.Page Number : 102Study Administrator: Yrd.
