Abstract (EN)
Because of its working style and understanding, the academicianship requires a unique hard work and dedication. In line with these requirements, evaluating the performance of academicians is one of the topics that are discussed a lot due to the different expectations of academicians and the variables in the fields of study of academicians. Although performance evaluations of academics is taken into consideration on issues such as appointment and promotion, contract renewal and bonus, there is no academician performance evaluation system that can be adopted by academicians covering all academicians. In the studies conducted on the topic in the literature, it is emphasized that the recommendations given may cause another problem and it is stated that the subject should be studied more. In this study, what performance evaluation is, its methods, process, disadvantages, advantages and mistakes in applications are examined. Then, examples of academia from various countries are given, and the meaning of the effort of academics is explained. These explanations are followed by an examination of how academic performance evaluations are used in which field. In the last part of the conceptual framework of the study, the criticisms in the literature and the issues seen as problems are mentioned in order to help explain why academician performance evaluation practices are a subject that is being discussed. In the research part of the study, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 18 academicians. Here, the findings determined from the questions posed to the academicians to get more in-depth information about the subject are included. In the study, data about the inadequacies of academician performance evaluation processes, how these processes should work, the reasons for not correcting the mistakes in the processes, who should carry out these processes, what the positive or negative outputs of the processes should be, and how the performance targets should be met previously are revealed.
