AN INVESTIGATION OF HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT OF AKÇADAĞ ANATOLIAN TEACHER HIGH SCHOOL AND APPLIED EDUCATIONAL CURRICULA KILIÇ, Ali PhD, İnönü University Institute of Educational Sciences Department of Curriculum and Instruction Thesis Advisor: Prof. Dr. Süleyman Nihat ŞAD June 2024, The aim of this research is to examine the historical development of Akçadağ Anatolian Teacher High School (AAÖL), which is an important educational institution that continued its education activities between 1989 and 2014 and became a source for our country in the field of teacher training, and the basic characteristics of the applied curricula and their effects on teacher training processes. Within the scope of the first and second sub-problems of the research designed in the case study pattern, an archive search was conducted within the Malatya National Education Directorate, Akçadağ District National Education Directorate and Akçadağ Fatih Science High School in order to examine the historical development of Akçadağ Anatolian Teacher High School and the basic features of the applied curricula. In order to examine the effects of the curricula implemented within the scope of the third sub-problem of the research on teacher training processes, a total of 25 graduates who studied at AAÖL between 1989 and 2014 were interviewed using semi-structured interview method. In order to collect data, a data recording form was created within the scope of the first and second sub-problems of the research and the document review method was used. In order to find an answer to the third sub-problem, graduates were interviewed using a semi-structured interview form. Within the scope of the analysis of the collected data, descriptive analysis was used for the first and second sub-problems and content analysis method was used for the third sub-problem. Based on the findings obtained from the research, it has been determined from the documents obtained from the archive that AAÖL had an organizational structure that created its corporate identity, human resources, and a versatile education campus in the period between 1989 and 2014, when it continued its education and training activities, and that its students were successful in both university exams and social and cultural achievements. The activities were found to be very successful. Main features of the applied training curricula When examined, it can be seen that the basis of AAÖL's programs is the Anatolian Teacher High Schools Regulation and the educational principles published in the National Education Announcements magazine. It has been observed that the 5th and 6th articles of the regulation, which outlines the purpose, establishment and duties of the school, and the first five articles of the principles, as well as articles 7.8.10.17 and 19, are directly related to the objectives of the implemented program. It has been determined that changes have been made to the relevant articles of the regulation over the years. The scope of the content of the curricula was first determined in Article 7 of the Anatolian Teacher High Schools Regulation and the weekly course schedules and course application principles of Anatolian Teacher High Schools in the MEB Announcements magazine published in 1990. While the content is applied with the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th, and 17th articles of the education and training principles published in the Ministry of Education Journal of Announcements in the same year. The points to be taken into consideration have been clarified. Although it has been seen that changes have been made in the courses and practice hours over the years, it has been determined that the weight of compulsory and elective teaching vocational courses in the weekly course schedules of the implemented programs is approximately 40%. It has been determined that explanations about the educational status of the programs are included in the 6th, 11th, 12th, 16th, 18th and 19th articles of the education principles. It has been determined that explanations regarding the testing situations element of the program are included in the 18th article of the relevant regulation under the title "Determination of Student Success", in the form of principles of practice and legislation to be taken into consideration in preparatory and regular classes. Looking at the results obtained within the scope of the third sub-problem of the research, themes emerged that the programs implemented in AAÖL had positive effects on both the professional and personal characteristics of the graduates. These themes; Positive Attitude Towards the Teaching Profession in professional development, Facilitation of University Education, Ability to Manage Learning and Teaching Processes; In the personal development category, they are Tolerant to Differences, Early Maturation and Self-Confidence, Effective Communication, Objectivity, and Being Idealist. In this respect, it has been determined that AAÖL's contribution to the teacher training process is especially similar to the competency areas in the "Teaching Profession General Competencies Guide" prepared by the Ministry of Education in 2017. Key Words: Anatolian Teacher High School, Akçadağ Anatolian Teacher High School, teacher training, education programs, historical development.
