Abstract (EN)

Cereal cyst nematode (Heterodera avenae group), which is one of the most important plant parasitic nematodes in wheat, was first detected in Erzurum province in Turkey in 1974. The Three important species of Cereal cyst nematode: Heterodera avenae Wollenweber, H. latipons Franklin and H. filipjevi (Madzhidov) Stone were identified in Turkey. Mediterranean Cereal cyst nematode, Heterodera latipons (Franklin) is widely known in wheat and barley production areas where hot and temperate climates dominate and are known to have populations above the economic loss threshold in many localities in Turkey. The knowledge of nematode biology and bio-ecology to control cyst nematodes is very important in terms of developing new strategies for management, especially in nematode behave and selection in the nature. In this study, the effect of temperature, which is one of the most important ecological and edaphic factor affecting Mediterranean Cereal cyst nematode's biology, on egg-larva hatching in vitro and ex-vitro population was investigated. In the study, the effect of different temperatures on larvae hatching from H. latipons eggs, the highest egg hatching rate was 47,57% at 10 °C, followed by 38,12% at 15 °C, 33,19% at 5 °C and 12,8% at 20 °C. The lowest hatching of larva from eggs was 3,5% at 25 °C. It has been observed that the second stage larva (J2) population of H. latipons in natural conditions is highest in March and April, and the population has been on a downward trend since June. As a result of the study, it was concluded that 10-15 °C temperature was effective in positive direction on egg larva hatching and population, and that the positive effect of lower and higher temperatures was weaker.
