Attitudes and Behaviors of Medical Residents Working at Akdeniz University Hospital Towards Rational Use of Drugs During the Covid-19 Pandemic Process Aim: In this study, it was aimed to determine how the attitudes and behaviors of the medical residents working at Akdeniz University Hospital and who agreed to participate in the study towards rational use of drugs during the COVID-19 pandemic were affected and the relationship between the change status and the socio-demographic characteristics of the participants. Methods: Our research, which is a descriptive and cross-sectional study, was applied online through a questionnaire and also face to face when necessary. Some of the survey questions found in the study of evaluating the knowledge and behavior of physicians working in hospitals in Turkey regarding rational use of drugs were used and new questions were added and a new 30-question survey was prepared. Analyzes were made with IBM version 22.0 program. The statistical significance level was accepted as p<0.05. Findings: 238 medical residents participated in the study. 54.2% of the participants are women, 45.82% are men, 69.3% are between the ages of 26-30 and 56.7% are married. 74.8% of the participants work in internal sciences, 25.2% in surgical sciences, 29.8% are in the 2-3 year range of specialization education. 73.1% of the participants had less than 5 years of professional experience, 88.2% had worked in another health institution before. 56.5% of the participants had previously received training on rational use of drug. 52.9% of the participants stated that they felt moderately sufficient and 31.9% felt inadequate. In our study, 43.7% of the participants think that the use of medication in the community has increased during the pandemic process. In our study, the daily patient care rates of the surgical department residents during the pandemic were significantly higher than the internal department residents and it was determined that prescription was significantly higher in internal department residents than in surgical department assistants. Conclusion and Recommendations: It was determined that the medical residents physicians participating in our study considered themselves inadequate in terms of rational drug use during the pandemic process, that their rational drug use training was insufficient, and that irrational drug use increased in the society. It has been determined that when the years of specialization education of research assistants increase and internal medicine physicians the rate of seeing themselves as competent in rational use of drugs in. It is thought that it is necessary to evaluate the current programs of physicians who received specialty training during the pandemic process, to encourage compensatory studies and to include rational drug use in these trainings.
