Abstract (EN)
Objective: It was aimed to examine FDP programs, which are implemented in Medical Faculty of Akdeniz University (MFAU), by the faculty members. Method: The present study is a cross-sectional study carried out with faculty members, who have participated in educator training in MFAU in educational years 2018-2019. In order for the faculty members to be able to assess the efficiency of FDP programs they received, a 13-item questionnaire developed by the authors, "The Validity and Reliability of the Instructors' Performance Evaluatıon Scales", Faculty Member Assessment Scale, and PBL obtained annually from students, course council, and faculty member assessment scores obtained from faculty member at the end of internship. The study consists of faculty members, who have participated in educator training programs in MFAU in educational year 2018-2019. There are 204 faculty members in the study. The participation rate was 70.6%. Results: The study results indicate that the faculty members are satisfied (85%) by FDP programs and they feel it sufficient (73%) for them. They feel themselves highly capable in terms of education in small groups (95%), the use of auditory-visual instruments (90.8%), and preparing the positive learning environment (88%). However, they feel less capable in terms of coaching, mentorship – consultancy, preparing and implementing OSCE, and they feel themselves less capable in CORE preparation training. The feedbacks provided by the students indicated that the faculty members made use of educator development programs and they made some modifications in their lectures. Conclusion: It was determined that the FDP programs are useful for the knowledge and skill development of educators in medicine. It was observed that the FDP programs combining different education methods contributed to the better education performance of participants.
