Reflecting of smart building technologies to library buildings and services: A research on university libraries in Turkey

Innovations which technology presented are suitable for use in all fields of life. We meet these innovations by way of smart technologies. The technologies that have started to be applied in order to increase comfort in the buildings that are at the beginning of the living areas consist of systems that focus on the user. The aim of this study is to explain the effects of smart building technologies on library building and services and to investigate the reflection of these to university libraries. In this context, the information and opinions of the participants about smart library services and Technologies were evaluated with the field study conducted for the heads of university library departments. The field study was conducted through a questionnaire and was sent to 89 university library administrators and SPSS program was used to evaluate the findings. According to the results obtained in the study, university libraries managers in Turkey are fairly educated about intelligent building technologies, they have information about these services, and these technology / services are reflected in the university library services. At the end of the study, suggestions were made to reflect technology and services to the next generation library buildings and information services in order to keep up with the changes.
