Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, the focus is on the concept of 'Smart City', which has come to the fore in recent years due to the increasing population density in cities and the problems that have become insurmountable. The emergence of the concept worldwide approaches and applications are studied. The concepts of smartness and sustainability were examined along with the concept of smart city. The relationship between a smart city and architecture was also studied. As an example of the smart city application, the MAtchUP Smart City Project which was carried out within the scope of the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation program of the European Union was mentioned. Within the scope of this project, the smart city understanding and new approaches of Valencia, Dresden and Antalya, the implementing cities of the targets determined within the framework of the European Union, were investigated on these three original models. The results of the applications carried out in the energy, mobility, information and communication technologies (ICT) and citizen engagement categories, which are the main focuses of the MAtchUP Smart City Project, were examined separately in each city. The determination of the smart city criteria and the results of this concept, which are handled in different ways in different cities, are compared. According to the capacities of the three original cities, the effects of the implementations on future periods are mentioned. It is aimed that this thesis study will contribute to the roadmap of other developing cities.
