Investigation and determination of aclonifen pesticide by electrochemical techniques

Abstract (EN)

Aclonifen is a pesticide which is in difenil ether group. It which is used for pre and post?emerge against broadleaf weed in plants such as chickpea, sunflower, lentils and corn is the selective herbicides. The value of acute oral LD50 of aclonifen pesticide is larger than 5000 mg/kg. In this study, voltammetric behavior of aclonifen has been investigated using glassy carbon electrode (GCE). The analytical methods have been developed for the determination of aclonifen in supporting electrolyte, natural water and soil samples. The qualitative and quantitatlive determination of the analytes were performed by square wave stripping voltammetry (SWSV) and cyclic voltammetry (CV). Effects of accumulation potential, accumulation time, pulse amplitude, step potential and frequency were examined to determine optimum stripping conditions. Peak potential of aclonifen, was found about+1220 mV(vs. Ag/AgCl). Calibration plots were linear at the concentration range of 0.25 ? 19.2 ?g mL-1 for aclonifen with glassy carbon electrode by SWSV. The limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) were obtained 0.073 and 0.25?g mL-1 for aclonifen. In addition the interference of some inorganic species and pesticides have also been studied. The developed method was applied for the determination of the pesticide spiked natural water and soil samples. The recovery values obtained in dirinking water samples are in the range of 99.1 ?98.2 %, for dam water samples 102.4 ? 94.7 %, for undergrand water samples 99.6 ? 98.9 % and for soil samples 98.8 ? 96.9 %.The method is successfully applied for the determination of aclonifen in commercial formulation Challenge®600. The average percentage recovery was calculated as 595 ± 10 (labeled value is 600 g/L) and the relative standard deviation (RSD) is 1.8 % (n=7, 95 % confidence level).Key Words : Pesticide, determination, electrochemistry, aclonifen
