This thesis intends to scrutinize the activities of Justice and Development Party (AKP or AK Party), which - a short while after its foundation ? has acquired the political ruling power for two consecutive terms and currently maintain the title of ruling party alone attracted attention with both its political formation and policies as well it has put into practice over Diyarbakir example in 29 March 2009 local elections. The first chapter of thesis contains the definitions of the concepts the policy, communication that are directly related to the concept of political communication and persuasion, motivation methods of elections and political communication; the political public relations, political marketing, political publicity. In the second chapter of the thesis, the public opinion, the factors that became effective in formation of a public opinion and significant points during electoral campaigns have been addressed. As to the last chapter; the activities (all sorts of written and audio-visual elements and methods of direct and indirect communication) AKP has applied during 29 March 2009 Diyarbakır local electionsKeywords: Communication, Politics, Public Opinion, Political Communication, Elections, AKP, Diyarbakır.
