Abstract (EN)
Acrylamide (C3H5NO, CAS No. 79-06-1) is an industrial unsaturated amide and solid monomer with an activated pair of bonds, appearing in white with crystalline and odorless properties, with no natural source from the environment. Acrylamide, which can appear almost anywhere in our lives due to its formation in many sources and its use in most sectors, harms living things in different ways. Even low concentrations of acrylamide were found to cause damage to different species and were seen as a chemical that caused concern due to its genotoxic, neurotoxic, carcinogenic effects. In this study, the acute toxic effects of acrylamide in zebrafish (Danio rerio) used as model organisms in ecotoxicological studies and the damage caused by sublethal concentrations on DNA were examined. The 96-hour LC50 value was 98.0 mg/L (84.7-111.28 mg/L-95% confidence interval). The 1/2 and 1/10 values of the 96-hour LC50 were used as sublethal concentrations and DNA damage was detected in adult zebrafish exposed to 10 and 50 mg/L acrylamide for 24 to 96 hours compared to the control group (p<0,05). As a result, short-term and sublethal exposure to acrylamide was found to cause DNA damage in the aquatic ecosystem.
