Abstract (EN)

Numerical investigation of gas-solid two phase flow hydrodynamics in a fluidized bed. Combustion and emission characteristics of fluidized beds is mainly determined by bed hydrodynamic. Gas-solid two phase model and interactions are explained by fluidized bed hydrodynamics mechanism. In this study, gas-solid two phase flow hydrodynamics in a cold model fluidized bed is investigated numerically by using PHOENICS computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code. Effects of particle density, superficial gas velocity and particle diameter on flow hydrodynamics were investigated by using the physical geometry of cold model fluidized bed located in the Thermal Power Laboratory of Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at Gazi University. At some determined cross sections, gas and solid velocity vectors, pressure and solid phase volume fraction contours, radial gas velocity distributions in the column, radial solid velocity distributions, radial distributions of local solid mass fluxes and radial distribution of solid phase volume fractions have been shown. It has been determined that circulating rate of solid particle was a strong function of particle density, superficial gas velocity and particle diameter.
