Abstract (EN)
In this study, removal of reactive dye from wastewater by adsorption with activated carbon was investigated. Onopordum Acanthium L. was used to prepare activated carbon by chemical activation with potassium carbonate (K2CO3). Reactive Blue 19 and Reactive Orange 16 was used as dyestuff. In the studies of the effect of initial dye concentration, initial pH, amount of adsorbent, adsorption time and temperature to dye removal, the percent of dye removal was found % 99.94 for 300 ppm and % 81.04 for 600 ppm. For the adsorption system of dyestuffs on the activated carbon, the isotherm studies have done and by the coefficients which are obtained, the system thermodynamics are investigated. Also the system kinetics are investigated by doing experimental studies with the different initial dye concentrations at the four different temperatures. Keywords: Activated carbon, Adsorption, Reactive dyes, Wastewater
