Abstract (EN)
Hesperetin is a naturally occurring antioxidant molecule derived from flavonoids. Acute exercise induces several negative effects on tissues. In this thesis study, the effects of hesperetin on liver tissues of rats subjected to acute exercise were investigated. Rats were divided into four groups: Control (C), Hesperetin (H), Acute Exercise (A), and Acute Exercise + Hesperetin (AH). Acute exercise was performed using a treadmill device. Following the experiment, levels of MDA, GSH, CES, AChE, GST, GR, and fatty acids in rat liver tissues were examined. The MDA level was found to be highest in the A group compared to other groups. The GSH level in the A group was observed to be the lowest. Compared to the GR enzyme activity in the K group, it was decreased in the A group. The AH group showed the highest GR enzyme activity level. Based on GST enzyme activity in the K group, a relative decrease was observed in the A group. However, GST activity increased in the AH group compared to the A group. CES enzyme activity was higher in the A group than in the K group. Compared to the AChE enzyme activity level in the K group, it was increased in the AH group. No significant differences were observed among all groups in terms of ∑USFA, ∑SFA, ∑MUFA, and ∑PUFA levels. Compared to the 20:4 fatty acid level in the C group, it was elevated in the H group. The 16:0 fatty acid levels were increased in both the A and AH groups compared to the C group. Based on the findings of this study, it can be concluded that hesperetin exhibits a protective effect on rat liver tissues exposed to acute exercise.
