Abstract (EN)
Purpose: Availability of endogenous COHb in predicting mortality was investigated in acute coronary syndrome patients at after the first three months from hospital application and stay in hospital. Method: Our study was performed on the patients that admitted to cardiology clinic and the patients that came to emergency service with chest pain which compliance with exclusion and inclusion criteria. The evaluation of routine ECG, blood tests and blood gas was performed in these patients. Additionally the demographic characteristics like patient's age and genders, illnesses that patients has in their medical history, coronary angiography results and prognosis were recorded. Results: Average age of the patients included in the study is 61.52±13.19 (21-93) and 164 of 228 are male (%71.9). When the medical history of the patients in our study was examined, it was seen that hypertension in 91 (%39.9) , diabetes in 71 (%31.1), previous bypass surgery in 37 (16.2%). It was seen that 82 patients with STEMI (%36), 112 patients with NSTEMI (%49.1) and 34 patients with unstable angina (UA). It was seen that 82 of patients (%36) had right coronary artery (RCA) occlusion, 110 of patients (48.2) had left anterior descending artery (LAD) occlusion, and 70 of patients (% 30.7) had circumflex artery (CX) occlusion. Endogen COHb level was not statistically significant at the analysis that after exclude the patient group exposed to cigarette smoke before the application to the hospital (p=0.248). In the same way endogen COHb level was not statistically significant to determine 3 months mortality level (p=0.26). Conclusion: There is no globally accepted mortality indicator that used in daily practice. The results which we claimed after our research is shown that endogen COHb is not effective for ACS patients at three months periods and stay in the hospital. Although there is no statistically significant relation in our research, there may be claimed significant results in the case of more patient population.
