Abstract (EN)
-45- 7. SUMMARY IL-6 is a cytokine known since 1980, is determined biological activity in many regions, having differrent cell origins like monocytes, macrophages, endothelial cells, fibroblasts, active Th2 cells. IL-6 gene is located on the short arm of chrosome 7p15-p21 and including 5 exons, 4 introns. This gene is polymorphic on the promoter region and one copy gene. Atherosclerotic heart diseases are inflamatuary diseases. IL-6 is an inflamatuar cytokine. There are findings about the IL-6 gene promoter polymorphisms have influence on heart diseases. Because of this the variants on the IL-6 gene must be defined. In this study we investigated frequency of -174 G>C and -572G>C polymorphisms on IL-6 gene promoter region in acute myocardial infarction on the society and the influence of IL-6 gene polymorphisms on IL-6 serum levels, infarction sizes, cardiac prognoses of patients. This study 50 acute myocardial infarction patients and 50 healthy controls were studied. DNA was extracted from whole peripheral blood by using DNA extraction techniques. The genotypes were determinated PCR-RFLP techniques. When the AMI patient and control groups of -174G>C and -572G>C polymorphisms of IL-6 promoter are compared statistically there is no meaningful risk factor. In this study it is thought that the level of IL-6 which is observed at 72. and 48. hours after Ml and accepted as immune response have a relation with -174G>C polymorphisms. There is no relationship between -572G>C polymorphisms and immune response frequency, myocardial defects and bad prognose.
