41 6. SUMMARY FACTORS INFLUENCING OCCURRENCE OF THE LATE POTENTIALS FOLLOWING ACUTE MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION Main reason for mortality following acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is ventricular disrythmia. Signal-averaged ECG (SAECG) is a non-invasive method to predict possible disrythmia. Current study is designed to investigate both factors influencing late potential occurrence and to describe the patient group particularly need SAECG investigation following AMI. Hundred and twenty-four patients (104 males, 20 females)exposed to AMI first time fulfilling the study criteria and were managed in coronary intensive care unit registered for the study in a sequential manner. Clinical and laboratory data were collected prospectively. The relation between late potentials and age, sex, infarct localisation, thrombolytic treatment and beta blocker use AMI initiation hour, LVEF, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, smoking, submaximal exercise test, silent ischemia, number of diseased vessels, CK peak levels, dysrythmia occurred in hyperacute and acute stages, repression and patience of the infact related artery. After performing statistical analysis no significant relation was observed between late potentials and age, sex, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, smoking, but late potential incidence was related with Conclusively plenty of factors influence late potentials following AMI. Increase in their number a future possibility of being exposed to a dysrythmia will increase. Therefore SAECG method would be suitable firstly in these patients. Key Words: Acute myocardial infarction, late potentials.
