Abstract (EN)

In the contemporary world, numerous manufacturing techniques have advanced globally. Among these methods, laser cutting machines occupy a prominent position. Laser cutting offers a significant advantage with its capability for swift cutting, production sans the necessity for molds, and minimal waste rates. The laser cutting method enables the cutting of both metallic and non-metallic parts with high cutting quality and speed. Laser cutting can be utilized through computer system programming, allowing for the cutting of variously shaped complex parts within short processing times. In this study, Al-B4C coated AA-2024 aluminum alloys were cut in nitrogen gas environments at different frequencies (ranging from 3000 to 5000 Hz), different cutting speeds (ranging from 900 to 1300 mm/min), and different gas pressures (10 to 13 bar). Subsequently, the microstructures of the cut samples were examined under a microscope. In order to determine the appropriate cutting parameters, the upper kerf widths, average surface roughness, and generated burr heights of the samples were measured. The results obtained using the Taguchi experimental design method were converted to signal-to-noise ratios, and optimum cutting parameters were determined. Additionally, the effects of the parameters on the results were determined statistically using ANOVA variance analysis. As a result, it has been determined experimentally and statistically that cutting parameters have an effect on kerf width, burr height, and average surface roughness in the laser cutting of Al-B4C coated AA-2024 aluminum alloys.
