Investigation of the urbanization of Alanya in the modernperiod with the context of discontinuity, decontextualization and reflexivity

With the development of industry, especially in the 19th and 20th centuries, the forms of production, lifestyles and cities have changed; by the 21st century, the effects of these developments turned out to be more radical. The transformation of the traditional city into a modern city is a remarkable issue to examine in urban and spatial terms. Alanya, which was an important port city during the Seljuk period and before, lost its importance and did not proceed a significant development until the foundation of the Republic. In this thesis, the urbanization process of Alanya is studied, where the effects of industrialization began to occur in Anatolia, at the same time with the development of tourism. Discontinuity, decontextualization and reflexivity are the cognitive tools of this study
