Abstract (EN)
The scope of this study is to analyze the image of Africa and the traces of post-colonial period in A quale tribù appartieni?, the first book of the Africa trilogy written by Alberto Moravia, one of the most prominent writers of the Italian travel writing in the twentieth century. The first chapter of this three-chaptered study will explore the concepts of travel, imagology, and colonialism, through which a solid foundation for second and third chapters is aimed to be established. In the second chapter, the two other books of the trilogy about Africa, as well as writer's other travel books, which emerged as a result of his travels to USSR, India and China, will be discussed. The aim of this chapter is to provide information on Moravia's perspective as a travel writer and analyze his perspective on Africa. In the last chapter of the study, the image of Africa and the effects of colonialism on the continent, which are reflected in A quale tribù appartieni?, are examined and Moravia's approach to Africa as an European travel writer is analyzed.
