Menstrual cycle of alexandria laser epilation comparison of the effectiveness

Introduction and Purpose: Laser epilation has been used for therapeutic purposes on patients for nearly 30 years. Although lasers are widely used today, laser epilation studies in Pubmed and Google Scholar are around 1000. In addition, the alexandrite laser epilation study, which is widely used in aesthetics and beauty centers and used in our study, is only around 200 in Pubmed. As far as we know, the hair in our body can be found in any phase, and it is also a known fact that the hair follicle located in any region may be in a different phase than the hair follicle nearby. The effectiveness of the laser is higher effect to the hairs in the anagen phase in studies. In addition, besides the body androgen, hormones such as progesterone and estrogen and the contribution of their precursor structures in the change of the peripheral hair follicle have recently been emphasized. For this reason, we decided to examine the menstrual cycle that changes hormonally in the body in 3 different periods.We investigated the efficacy of alexandrite laser on epilation in menstrual phase, periovulation phase and luteal phase. The reason for determining these periods is that estrogen and progesterone are the lowest in the menstrual period, estrogen peaks in the periovulation phase and progesterone peaks in the middle stages of the luteal phase. In addition, there are different results related to the pain status investigated in the aesthetic procedures performed in women in the menstrual cycle and we evaluated the effectiveness of the laser performed on the pain in the 3 periods we will investigate between 1 and 10 with visual analog scale. No patient had any side effects. Only after the procedure, hyperemia was observed in the follicular areas, which was previously shared with patients who would have side effects. Our study showed that the effectiveness of laser epilation does not change according to menstrual periods, and besides, patients can come to laser epilation at any time. The pain felt in the laser process to be applied to individuals may vary according to the individual, but generally does not change. In addition, patients should be informed about the time of epilation and it should be said that the first session will be the most efficient in terms of follicle destruction.
