Abstract (EN)

İn order for businesses to achieve their economic and social goals, all employees must feel belonging to the organization and participate in the decisions to be made on behalf of the organization. Employees who reject talking and exhibit the act of silence are seen as an important problem for the organization. Therefore, it is very important to investigate all kinds of factors that can affect organizational silence in a positive or negative way. One of the factors that has the potential to affect silence in organizations can be evaluated as employees' perception of nepotism. Nepotism, can directly affect many variables such as injustice, insecurity and performance in the organizational environment. On the other hand, it can be stated that there is a limited study examining the relations between nepotism and organizational silence in the literature. In this context, this study aimed to determine the possible effects of nepotism on organizational silence and its sub-dimensions. The online survey method was applied to 263 people working in enterprises operating in Sakarya and the data obtained were analyzed through statistical analysis. The data were evaluated by using independent samples t-test, one-way ANOVA, correlation and regression analysis through IBM SPSS program. When the findings were examined, it has been found that nepotism has an effect on organizational silence. Similarly, nepotism has an effect on organizational silence's sub-dimensions. Employees' perception of nepotism increases their silence behavior. Employees' perception of nepotism does not differ according to demographic variables such as education, age and marital status, while gender and monthly income differ according to demographic variables. It is seen that men have a higher perception of nepotism than women. On the other hand, as the monthly income decreases, the perception of nepotism increases. All organizational silence dimensions vary according to age and monthly income demographic variables, but do not differ according to demographic variables such as gender, marital status. Procial silence varies to education level but acquiescent silence and defensive silence do not vary to education level. In general, the tendency to exhibit silence behavior increases as the age range decreases. As the monthly income of the participants increases, their level of silence decreases.
