The effects of perceived supervisor humor on counterproductive work behaviors

Abstract (EN)

This research has been examined within the framework of Broaden-and-Build Theory in order to determine whether perceived supervisor humor has an effect on counterproductive work behaviors. In the pertinent literature, there is no study that directly investigates the effect of perceived supervisor humor on counterproductive work behaviors through sub-dimensions. In accordance with the purpose of the research, data obtained by convenience sampling method from 228 employees of 3 companies operating in Kastamonu in the manufacture of wood and of products of wood and cork sector. SPSS 22.0 statistical program was used for data analysis. The validity and reliability analyzes of the scales used in the study were performed, and correlation and regression analyzes were used to test the hypotheses. According to the findings of the research, cynical humor style from the dimensions of perceived supervisor humor affect interpersonal deviance and organizational deviance. In addition, it was determined that rejectionist humor affects interpersonal deviance negatively, and producer humor positively affects organizational deviance. Accordingly, the research findings were discussed within the framework of the Broaden-and-Build Theory.
