Abstract (EN)

This study aims to analyze how algorithmic monitoring on freelance platforms affects the quality of work performed by freelancers, as well as how certain characteristics of freelancers (for example, gender, work experience, etc.) and the amount of payment for work affect the quality of work performed. Using our quantitative data collected through a survey of freelancers on Russian freelancing platforms, we investigate how various factors influence the quality of work performed by freelancers. This study consists of one Linear Regression Model, one Independent Sample T-Test and four One-Way ANOVA tests. The results of the study show that algorithmic monitoring on Russian freelance platforms contributes to the improvement of the quality of work performed. The influence of factors such as freelancer characteristics (e.g., gender, work experience, etc.) on the quality of work performed was ambiguous. The results of the one-way ANOVA test indicate that the wage factor has a positive impact on the quality of work performed, with an increase in labor costs leading to improvement of the work outcomes. This work contributes to the scientific literature in the field of algorithmic management in the platform economy and helps to identify which factors significantly affect the quality of work performed.
