Mediterranean and its vicinity in early XIXth century according to Ali Bey Travelogue

The subject of our thesis study is "Medıterranean And Its Vıcınıty in Early XIXth Century According to Ali Bey Travelogue" It's composed of three main chapters including introduction. The travelogues are the documents in which Travellers register their observations and information based on socio-cultural, economical, goverment system and geoprafical information of the locations they visit. Ali Bey's travelogues are the ones prepared acoording to the aims targeted. Domingo Badia y Leblich's travelogue in which we are interested is a travelogue comprising Morocco, Tripoli, Cyprus, Egypt, Arabia, Syria and Turkey between 1803-1807. Although this travelogue includes scientific and socio-cultural aims, in fact, it has got the aim to make observations in Muslim countries to create sources for Spanish Crown. In his travelogue, he began in the early of XIXth century, Ali Bey made his journey identifying himself as Prince of Morocco with pseudonym Ali Bey El-Abbasi. Although he was a pious chiristian, he acted as a muslim during his taravel. Being muslim has facilitated his travel and most importantly, he visited Haram-ul Sherief in Mecca, carried out his pilgrimage and even washed the inside of the Kaaba during Kaaba washing ceremony. In his travelogue, Ali Bey made observations in the cities he went about geographical positions, infrastructure, buildings, architecture, humans' socio-cultural states, economy, clothings, goverments, population, provisions, eating habits and local interests.
