Abstract (EN)

In this thesis study, the effects of methanol, ethanol, isopropanol and Diethylene glycol monomethyl ether (di-EGME) added to the jet fuel in certain proportions were investigated in terms of density, viscosity, freezing point and flash point of jet fuel. By adding 2%, 5%, 7% and 10% of each additive to the JP-8 fuel, the necessary mixture was obtained and tested on the relevant devices. The data obtained from the devices which were explained in detail in the relevant section of the thesis were interpreted with the help of tables and graphics. As a result of the studies, it was discovered that the density value of JP-8 fuel is 797 kg/m3 and this value did not show much variation in mixed methanol, ethanol and isopropyl alcohol, however, it increased significantly with the addition of di-EGME and reaches 814,5 kg/m3. It was observed that the viscosity value did not change much with the addition of methanol and ethanol, but it increased to 1.298 mm/s2 with the addition of 10% isopropyl alcohol, and up to 1.98 mm/s2 with the addition of di-EGME. The flash point value of JP-8 fuel at 46 oC was measured as: 40 oC with the addition of 10% methanol, 43,4 oC with the addition of 10% ethanol, 42,9 OC with the addition of 10% isopropanol, and 55,4 oC with the addition of di-EGME. The feezing point value of JP-8 fuel at -56.7 Co was measured as: -61.7 oC with the addition of 10% methanol, -62.1 oC with the addition of 10% ethanol, -57.6 oC with the addition of 10% isopropanol and -54,6 oC with the addition of di-EGME.
