The mediating role of perceived social support in the relationship between general self-efficacy and coping strategies of drivers with suspended licenses due to drink and drive

In this study,it is aimed to determine the mediating role of perceived social support in the relationship between general self-efficacy and coping strategies of drivers with suspended licenses due to drink and drive.The sample consists of 224 participants who were attended to Ankara Public Health Center/ Driver Behavior Improvement Training.Personal Information form, Coping Styles Scale Brief Form, Multi-Dimensional Perceived Social Support Scale, General Self-Efficacy were presented to all participants in the face to face meeting.SPSS 27 were used for research analysis.Pearson correlation analysis was used to compare the relationship between variables and also Independent Samples t-test and ANOVA were used to compare scale scores according to demographic variables. Nonparametrically, Mann-Whitney U test and Kruskal-Wallis H test were included in the study, and for the mediator role analysis PROCESS 4.2 was applied. In the analysis results of the research, it was found that there is low-level positive relationship between drivers' general self-efficacy and coping strategies sub-dimensions variables; using social support instrumentally, quitting other activities, mentally disconnecting, limiting oneself, positive reinterpretation, using emotional social support and planning. It has determined that perceived social support played a mediating role in the relationship between between general self-efficacy and coping strategies of drivers with suspended licenses .
