Abstract (EN)

European countries, which have entered into a restructuring period after the Second World War, have started to import migrant workers under the name of labor migration when their population could not meet the necessary number of workers due to increasing industrial production and economic development. As a result of this process, according to the agreement between the Federal Republic of Germany and the Republic of Turkey, a group of Turkish workers have emigrated to Germany to work for the first time in 1961. They have become permanent in Germany where they had gone as a "Guest Worker". The Turkish population in Germany has now reached over 3 million. The majority of these workers and their families have become citizens in a country where they felt alienated, but have also maintained emotinal connection with Turkey. These people are representatives of Turkey in Europe regardless of their nationality. They have gained the right to vote in 1987 and therefore have become influential in Turkish politics, too. Turkish citizens, who also received German citizenship in 2000 and had dual citizenship status, have acquired the right to vote in the German elections as well. In this thesis, the migration process of these people to Germany are explained. Within that framework, their voting behavior in Turkish elections is analyzed.
