Özet (EN)

ABSTRACTThe migrant movement which has a parallelism with the history of humanityhas been seen asan economic object of the labouring power of the capitalisteconomies of Europe after 1950?s. The emigracy from Turkey to Germany has beendefined within the same logic. The so called first generation Turkish workers who define themselves as ofrural origin, shifting their life styles from a feudally knit one into a modern Germancity life have experienced a cultural shock coming to- day.The first generation Turkish immigrants who could not solve the problem ofcommunication with the Germans in terms of language, mainly situated in ghettos inmeans of preserving their ethnic identity and cultural network in a framework ofTurkey bound traditional lives. This closed type of relations isolated them from theGerman society and mainstream culture. Began to be seen as problematic aliens bythe Germans, Turkish immigrants began to suffer growing racist movements becauseof the union of two Germanies and consequent economical problems.Unlike the first generation, the second generation who went on theireducation in Germany afetr learning their language began to get in touch with theGerman society. This generation that lived Turkey at home and Germany in theschool was also called as the lost generation, however they began to re- contextualizetheir their lives upon Germany.Yet the real integration was experienced with the third generation. Thisgeneration growing up with the effects of German cultural values turned the double-identity and Turkish- German dilemma into an advantage. This generation which hasalso been called as the German Turks used the cultural production material especiallycinema in order to represent themselves.VI
