Abstract (EN)
Identity, which is a problem of belonging, is constructed through being influenced by the social and cultural relations it exists in, as well as the historical events and processes that emerge from past to present. In this context, it is undeniable that immigration processes that have significant cultural and social consequences play a crucial role in the formation of identity. Thus, the international migration flows that started tor ise in the wake of Second World War has resulted in significant social and cultural consequences for both sending and migration-receiving countires; as well as identity discussions. The purpose of this study is to investigate the identity perception of the third generation Turkish migrants who live in Germany, take their education in this country and are a part of this society today, as an unforeseen consequence of Turkish labour migration to this country starting from 1961. . The prerequisite in identity construction is always the need for an "other".No identity belonging can exist without an Other from which it has differences as well as similarities they both share at the minimum level. Naturally it has an important place in Turkish migrants' identity construction, as well. However, it is now observed that unlike their elder relatives who made the first immigration to Germany, the third generation does not place German identity, which is the "other" for themselves, in a place completely different from theirs; in fact, includes it in constructing their own identity. Key Words:Turkish labour migration, international migration, transnationalism, identity, transnational identity.
