Alparslan Türkeş: Sociological dimensions of the portrait of the leader

Leadership is a processual phenomenon that is rooted in the past and extended towards future. In Turkey; Alparslan Türkeş is one of the leading names that come to people's mind when it is mentioned about leadership, statesmanhood and theorism. Türkeş made an effort to reconstruct the Republic of Turkey in terms of social and financial progress with all the superscriptions achieved by his name and he also asserted important sociological views at this point. Alparslan Türkeş's portrait is constituted in the first part of our thesis named as "Leader's Portrait and Intellectual Dimensions". Depending upon this reason, superscriptions attributed to him were also examined by considering the motives that form his intellectual aspect while Türkeş's life experiences were discussing in this section. In the second chapter called as "The Historical Adventure of Turkish Nationalism with The Facts of Nationality and Nationalism"; the topics as what are the facts of nationality and nationalism, how their structures and functions contribute to social functioning, which historical stages are followed are discussed. In this section, a comparative analysis between Western nationalism and Turkish nationalism was displayed. In addition to early development of Turkish nationalism, Ataturk nationalism was also discussed as the approach of the Ottoman Empire towards nationalism and the founding philosophy of the Republic of Turkey in this section. The third and final chapter named as "Alparslan Türkeş's Social Theory: Democratic Nationalism" discusses Türkeş's determination against obstacles that block improvements and determines the roadmap drawn by him to reach the prosperous Turkey imagined by him. Apart from these topics, the main shippers that Türkeş built on the road to Turkey are also discussed. in this section. Therefore, the model of democratic nationalism built by Türkeş as a method of Turkish nationalism and social theory is discussed in this section. The thesis called as "Alparslan Türkeş: Sociological Dimensions of the Portrait of the Leader" discusses the impact on Turkish social structure and political life, accompanied by the balances of status and role occupied by Türkeş.
