Abstract (EN)
The general purpose of this study is to examine podcast publishing, which has come to the fore within the framework of today's communication technologies and digital publishing opportunities, in the context of alternative media. Research data was obtained from interviews with 11 podcast publishers who participated in the study and text analysis findings on the content of 55 news podcasts. In this context, in the first stage of the study, 41 questions were asked to podcast publishers and the answers received were thematized and analyzed. After the first stage was completed, the second part of the research was started and a total of 55 podcast contents, 5 episodes from each of the 11 news podcasts included in the research, were examined with the text analysis technique. Alternative media was born out of the need against the inequality and monopolization of the existing communication order and media system and the criticism that the mainstream media neglected many ideas, people and groups in society. When the findings obtained in the study were examined from this perspective, it was revealed that news podcasts had the potential to meet this need. In addition, it has been determined that podcast journalism creates an alternative field and opportunity to the news industry in the country in many respects. İt has been determined that the income/business model in podcast publishing poses an economic problem for those who want to do this job professionally, but on the other hand, the absence of a boss plays a very important role in ensuring editorial independence. In this context, the importance of making news podcasts more visible and known should be emphasized.
