Gold markets and its status in the Turkish economy

Abstract (EN)

In this study, the main topic is the 'history of gold' which has got an important place in the lives of human being, the basic features of gold, its place in economy which is the source of its significance, the importance of gold for government and gold markets that are very organized in today's world. In the first part of this study; the reason why gold is precious mine and the features which give it this value are discussed. As for the second part; worldwide demand and supply of gold, the effects of gold demand and supply on economy are discussed in it by carrying out the economic analysis of gold. This part, on the whole, aims to determine the present situation in the world and also in Turkey.And in the third part, the formation of gold markets and their influences in the world are studied. In addition; in this part one can find a general view to leading gold markets in the world. In the fourth, that is the last part; the development of gold and its markets are studied and the demand and supply sources in Turkey are researched. Furthermore; also gold markets and financial instuments based on gold in Turkey, Gold Bourse of Istanbul and Gold Refinery of Istanbul are examined.In the results section, the situation of gold sector in our country and the problems faced are shortly mentioned and suggestions for the future are summarized briefly.
