The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the rock fall potential of the rock slopes along the Altındere valley within the borders of Trabzon province, Maçka district using 2 and 3 dimensional simulation models. Within the scope of the thesis, first of all, a susceptibility assessment has been carried out for areas with rockfall potential. A photogrammetric approach which enables the structural discontinuity features to be analyzed numerically in a computer environment has been used with the help of a terrestrial laser scanner, and kinematic analysis of the investigated rock slopes and rock mass classification have been performed using these data. Although rockfall modeling is an effective method for environmental protection, land use planning and predicting rockfall hazard despite complex processes, it greatly helps in the design of preventions. In this context, Rocfall software which allows two-dimensional modeling, and Rockfall Analyst, a three-dimensional rockfall simulation software developed in GIS environment, have been used as tools for modeling rockfalls and supporting protection design. In the studied 2 and 3 dimensional models, the fall trajectories of the rock blocks and the distances they reached have been determined positionally based on the topography, slope material friction characteristics, the magnitude and direction of the initial velocity and the rebound coefficients in the block velocity. Considering the outputs of the obtained models, decision making and possible preventions dealing with the rockfall process are examined within the scope of this thesis.
