Abstract (EN)
ABSTRACTAluminium foams have found increasing applications in a wide range of structural andfunctional products, due to their exceptional mechanical, acoustic, thermal, electrical andchemical properties.In theoretical parts of this work, various methods for making such foams are presented anddiscussed. Many methods, including melt-gas injection, powder metallurgy, investment castingand melt infiltration, foaming agent, etc., are available to produce this material.The various foaming processes, the foam stabilizing mechanisms and some known problemswith the various methods are explained and some possible applications for aluminum metalfoams presented.Today, there are many possibilities for applications aluminium foam metals. Most structuralapplications for metallic foams, especially in vehicles, call for a closed-cell morphology.Functional applications, howewer, depends on the certain degree open foam.In the experimental work, including; production of closed cell metal foam by injection gasmethod. Because of this, we produced closed cell aluminum foam from metal matrixcomposite with gas injection systems.For this aims, a closed cell production machine is designed by us and manufactured in Istanbul,then making experiments and produce closed cell aluminum foam metal.Keywords: Metallic foam, closed cell, open cell, cellular metal, metallic sponge.
