Abstract (EN)

Bacterial antibiotic resistance has become one of the most important public health problems of our time due to the widespread use of antibiotics in humans, animals and the environment, the increase in the number of patients with immune system disorders, the use of antibiotics in the food industry and mutations in bacteria. Many metals and metal oxides are known to have antibacterial effects against bacterial pathogens; however, there are very few studies in the literature on the antibacterial activity of aluminum oxide nanoparticles and the antimicrobial properties of nanoparticles of metal oxides such as zinc, silver, iron and copper. In this study, it was aimed to investigate the antimicrobial effects of aluminum oxide nanoparticles on some Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacterial strains isolated from sea water. In addition, antibiotic susceptibility and biofilm formation of bacterial isolates were evaluated. Kirby-Bauer Disk Diffusion Test was used to determine antibiotic susceptibility of isolates, and Microtiter Plate Method was used to evaluate biofilm activities. Antimicrobial effects of Aluminum Oxide nanoparticle on Gram negative and Gram positive bacteria used in the study were investigated by Microbroth Dilution Test. In the results of working, The antibiotic susceptibility of the bacterial strains used differs from each other, and none of these bacterial strains have the ability to form biofilms, and when the antibacterial activity of the Aluminum Oxide nanoparticle on these strains is examined, it has been revealed that the Minimum Inhibition Concentration is >2 mg/mL and the Minimum Bactericidal Concentration is >1mg/mL. Since there are not many studies on the antimicrobial effects of Aluminum Oxide nanoparticle, this study will contribute to the literature.
