Use of aluminum sulfate in applications of polyurethane varnish

In this study, the application of polyurethane varnish containing aluminum sulfate has been made on the black pine types together with the beech tree which are selected randomly.After the operations of top surface are done, the values of hardness, brightness, and sticking resistance have been detected on the samples.The aluminum sulfate used in the varnish is used in various areas of industry. The main usage area of the aluminum sulfate is paper industry. Aluminum varnish represents an important part of the paper production, and it pastes the paper and also provides the cellulose fibers to be pasted. Besides, as it is used as mordant in the varnish and dyes, it has been preferred with the purpose that it can direct our study. However, as the results are evaluated, it has been seen that there has existed disadvantages more than advantages in the values analyzed for the polyurethane varnish applications.During the preparation of aluminum sulfate varnish concentration, it has been added into varnish in 10%, 20%, 30 % proportions. As regarded in general context, the 10% aluminum sulfate did not have so much effect. As the proportion has been increased to 30%, the values showed a negative change. This caused a limited use of aluminum sulfate in polyurethane varnish applications.
