Abstract (EN)
After the 1999 Marmara Earthquake, there were significant differences in the damage of the reinforced concrete structures in the close vicinity of each other. This has led to the idea that the soil properties, under the buildings that are heavily damaged or destroyed, are effective in damage to structures. The soil investigations after the earthquake revealed that there were many different soil sections in and around Adapazarı and that there were dense soil layers up to 5-6 m thickness below the soft soil layers. The main purpose of this thesis is to investigate the effect of soil properties on earthquake behavior of reinforced concrete buildings constructed on soft soils with different thicknesses. Soft soil layers of different thicknesses close to the surface have been improved by soil changing or jet grout columns depending on their thickness and the effect of the soils on the behavior of the reinforced concrete superstructure is also included in the study. For this purpose, finite element models of 12 different structure-soil models were created with the help of PLAXIS 2D v2019 software and analyzed in the time domain. The superstructures of the building soil models have been formed by keeping the plans of two different structures with 4 and 8 storeys, section and material properties constant. The infrastructures of the building-soil models were constructed with three different soil layers considering Adapazarı soils. In order to model the actual soil behavior of soil environments, non-linear behavior characteristics were also taken into consideration. The behavior of building-soil model; the vertical displacements of the reinforced concrete superstructure and the horizontal displacements of the reinforced concrete superstructure are presented in graphs.
